God of wonders

this morning at approximately 4:30, i awoke to the loud thunderous sky. a few moments later the cell phone near my head vibrated as it began to sing its lovely tune. i hazily read the name tomlin on the glowing screen. my neighbor at the end of the hall as excited as a child the night before a field trip to the aquarium tells me to get out of bed and check out the wondrous sight. for the next 25 minutes we haphazardly stood on the roof in our flip flops and pajamas in awe of God's glory. oh how the past two nights have been continuous reminders of His wonder in nature, of His creativeness in the details of His creation, of His immense power and energy in the bolts brillantly lighting up the entire sky, the ceaseless waves beating upon the shore, and the voluminous fluorescent moon. all this to say that there is something secure yet fearful about the visual manifestations of a living God.
