maintain subconsciousness
the subconscious is a funny thing. something embedded in it can be thought about constantly without the person even knowing it; for that something is existing in the mind, but not immediately available to consciousness. take for instance, when you can't remember someone's name. 4 hours later, as you place a spoonful of baskin-robbins cookie dough ice cream in your mouth, you blurt out: "jake! his name was jake!" how did that come about? for you weren't consciously pondering what his name might have been for those previous 4 hours. or how about that person kris that you are crazy about. next thing you know while you've never said more than 20 words to each other, you think you know kris, you two could be best friends...all b/c kris' actions, previous conversations, and observations, have been actively running wild in your subconscious...
recently a chapel message got me to thinking about this. there has always been that question...what should i do in life? a teacher? a missionary? a missionary teacher? perhaps a marine biologist? but maybe, just maybe, its not so much what i do...but how i think...
if my powerful subconscious was constantly fixated with the gospel of Jesus Christ, then does it really matter what i do? for no matter what God has for me to do in life...my career, lifestyle, daily activities, they would overflow abundantly with the gospel of Jesus Christ...thus leading to His glory being manifested and His will accomplished.
so this leads me to think instead of putting so much thought and focus on what i should do or what does God have for me to do...maybe i ought to focus more and place the effort on how/what im thinking. what is being embedded in my subconscious? what is actively running wild? my prayer, my hope, my ceaseless goal: the gospel of Jesus Christ.

i think you are quite right. :)
i read this a while after i left my first comment, and it made me think of you so i wanted to encourage you with it:
"Those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires." -Romans 8:5
i think this entry is proof that you are living in accordance with the Spirit.
Sorry kiddo but I think what you do is important. 'do implies action here' Having God within you is good but there's nothing wrong with externalizing that. If God decides to use you for some purpose, it's a good bet he/she expects some action on your part.
(i hate text boxes because you can never tell tone. i want you to know this is all said in a friendly tone.)
i agree that what you do is important, but i think she was simply showing a discrepancy in priorities. your heart first, then your actions. from what i can tell, Jesus cared about things in that order, too.
as for specifics, the difference is entrusting God with showing you his direction if you keep in tune with the spirit VS worrying about what you should do because you think that even if you're in tune with what God wants, he's still going to make it some complicated guessing game for you. i think the important thing here was distinguishing that if you're in God's will and you're heart is set on obeying him, he'll lead you where you should go if he has a specific place, and if he will use you just as happily in either place, that's okay, too, because your eyes are on him and so *he will use you*. basically, if you're eyes are truly on Jesus, he'll use you.
i could be wrong, but i think this is what sonia meant, at least it's what i got out of it. if you, prior commentor, read it again in this light, i'm sure you will agree, too.
