hunting experience

thursday around midnight, i out hunted 5 testosterone crazed guys.
while many college students are spending their study hours hypnotized by halo 2, for my core guy friends, it's deer hunter 2005. they pass the cd-rom around and install it on their personal computers so that a multi-player game can be a source of recreation across the school's network system. this was introduced to me during open dorms, then installed on my laptop. with everyone's schedule being so busy and disarranged, it isn't very often when a game is hosted...but thursday night presented itself with the perfect opportunity. not only do we all play in the same game, but a scrolling conversation of trash talk and applause for the latest kill, can be read in the upper left hand portion of the screen. with jonathan morse, joshua james m., paul craig, jimbo, adam, and daniel duncan (when he gets the technical difficulties worked out) all playing together can make for one hysterically entertaining time. game one, i could not seem to hunt anything but beavers and rabbits; ending with jon, the best of the hunters, (currently ranked mountain man), taking the trophy. (jon even has a once alive elk head, named general lee, proudly hanging from his dorm room wall! [pictured below]) however in game 2, despite josh's attempts to distract me, while his character ran in circles around mine, blowing his deer call instrument and using his horse to try to run me over; with not just one, but TWO, 181 pound bucks (although jon will argue one), the only girl and tenderfoot ranked novice held the trophy high among dumbfounded yet supportive gentlemen ready to defend their masculinity. (it was all for you adelaide!) ;) seeing as how i left in the midst of game 3 (which jon won) perhaps this weekend will hold with it another opportunity to out hunt the guys.
