a prompted thought
with friday off...i took a trip back to my hometown...i can't remember the last time i was there for more than a few hours. (this time included). needless to say, its been awhile. so as i drove the familiar roads of o'side...the changes of new homes, buildings, and businesses stuck out like a sore thumb...
i've had this thought once, and the newness of a place that use to be so familiar, a place i've called home for the last 20 years, just kinda prompted it again...
"it is so nice to be on the familiar roads of my hometown. knowing every intersection, every light, every street name, knowing where i cannot turn on red and where the speed limit is enforced by police radars. (hehe). but, then on the reverse side seeing all the change in the construction of new neighborhoods and businesses. so while the roads, the foundation, continues to be the same, since i was but a little child, the senery which outskirts these roads are constantly changing. i dont know if this is silly or not, but i couldnt help relating it to God in the sense that He is like the roads, the foundation of my life being the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb 13:8). and my life, my relationship with Him constantly changing like the senery. i can even go further to say that the buildings and the neighborhoods are not just changing but changing for the good, for improvment. a hope of mine is that my life and my relationship with God is constantly changing for the good, for improvement..."
