north dorm & a newt

tonight was open dorms for North & South. north is quite a sight. they are the guys dorm up on the hill. they have a reputation for being known as the closest thing chc has to a cult. every guy has his own room and in the past (not so much this year) they'd do everything together. they had their own traditions and customs. they even had their own north dorm table in the cafeteria. alika is one of the RA's up there and he showed me the 1,310 glow in the dark stars that lined the hall. i've never seen walls so bright in the midst of darkness. he also showed me the "heaven" bathroom that is painted all white. he assured me it was the only all white bathroom on campus. on my north dorm tour, i got introduced to Newt the newt. Newt was taken from his home in a river by matt jones. Newt lives with 2 fresh water baby cat fish, a crab, 3 zebra fish, 3 silver dollar fish, 2 large water snails, couple algae eaters and bunches of ghost shrimp, which he has supper with on a regular basis. i wish i had a newt like Newt. he was so calm and not slimey at all. kind of rubbery actually when he got dry. needless to say, Newt made my journey up the hill worth it. i can't wait for four weeks when i can visit him again.
